2008 MFA Now Award Winners

New York, NY - May 8, 2009 -  MFA Now, an  international arts organization dedicated to the advancement of contemporary art through the promotion of new and emerging artists, has selected 20 awardees for its 2008 painting competition.  For its inaugural event, submissions for this competition represented 145 graduate art degree programs from 16 countries around the world.  The deadline for submissions ended in December 2008, while the selection process took place in 2009.  Awardees were selected using with a highly competitive round-by-round process headed by Executive Director, Adam Rogers, and Project Advisor, Judy Chicago, along with jurors Nicolette Kwok, Victoria Lu, John Millei, Maura Reilly, and Kay Saatchi.

“It is enlightening to discover how many young artists are pushing the boundaries of painting into digital forms, sculpture and the sheer physicality of painting materials. If these shows demonstrate anything, it is that painting is a long way from being dead…” remarked Judy Chicago at the end of the award process.

“It is our hope that by participating in the MFA Now competition, these young artists are helped in gaining needed exposure as emerging professional artists,” says Founder and Executive Director, Adam Rogers.
